Description
Dating to the early mid 19th century this stunning 6 foot long French Normandy box settle is constructed in solid chestnut with an oak back and is in very good all round condition. All joints are constructed with strong traditional mortise and tenon joints with the ends of the settle extending up to form low roll top arms.The settle has been cleaned and wax polished to show the beautiful grain figuration of this lovely wood.
The lid of the settle is constructed in such a way the hinges are not required and opens and closes with ease.
Commensurate with it's age, there has in the past been a tiny amount of insect attack to the box, but this has been sprayed with a 5 star 20 year treatment..
The box measures;
72 inches wide
19 inches deep
19 inches high to seat.
