Description
Dating to 1890, this stunning 2 piece stripped pine Belgian Bookcase / Dresser is in very good condition....
Standing on turned bun feet, the base section of this bookcase has a single shelf to the inside which is enclosed with a pair of exquisitely carved panel doors complete with working lock and key. These are flanked by fine carved and moulded knees. The frieze drawers are constructed with hand cut dovetail joints, run with ease and have later drop brass handles..
The top section has 2 shelves to the inside and is enclosed with a pair of arched top glazed doors which have a working lock with key and rope twist carving to match the lower doors. Further carved and moulded knees are applied to each flank and are complimented with individual carved rosettes and a traditional ogee cornice..
....
This is a lovely piece of late 19th century Belgian furniture which would compliment the room of any home traditional or modern.
Commensurate with it's age, there has in the past been a small amount of historical insect attack to the bookcase but to make sure of it's eradication I have sprayed the whole unit with a 5 star 30 year treatment.
The bookcase measures;
base is; 49.25 inches wide, 21.5 inches deep and 41.5 inches high.
top is; 14 inches deep / 11.5 internal with an over all height of 87 inches.
The cost to deliver this bookcase to England, Wales and Scotland (Glasgow to Edinburgh) is £75.00.
