Description
This is a stunning example of late 19th century French Louis XV furniture and because it comes completely flat it will easily fit up any stair case.Standing on Escargot feet with acanthus leaf knees, the armoire has a plinth drawer with a carved rococo shell panel.
To the inside there are 2 shelves, one having a drawer with lock which operates with the door key.
This is enclosed with a pair of mirror doors which are held shut with the original worknig lock and key. The bevel edge glass in these door is original with light foxing commensurate with it's age.
The Chapeau de Gendarme cornice rises up to the finely carved rococo shell pediment.
There has in the past been a very small amount of insect attack to the back which I have sprayed with a 5 star 30 year treatment.
The armoire measures; 50 inches wide, 53 inches to outside of cornice. 18 inches deep, 19.75 inches outside of cornice and 98 inches high.
